Hi guys I was in detroit and i saw a man in the rain looking for food?

hey people when i was driving around Detroit and saw a homeless man with a sign (It was all drippy because of the rain) And he was asking for food (I'm guessing he wanted money to buy it) So i got all creeped out and instead of giving him money i closed my car window and i feel bad but i dont know what he would spend it on. i mean its DETROIT people! When you are there you dont know what people do AKA they steal cars do drugs drink too muh alcohol etc. And i feel terrible. What should i have done?
