I don't understand why people who are 60 Years old + are so tight with there money?
People of that generation (I am 48) did not have access to the kind of credit that is available today .They weren't bombarded with advertising everywhere. They were also of a generation that did not have everything handed to them on a plate .If they wanted something it had to be saved for .The chances are they are not tight with their money they are just spending the money they have as they see fit. There wasn't the welfare safety net that gives some people a better lifestyle if they do nothing than if they work.Perhaps if we did live like that there would not be the greed there is today that sees companies legally selling care homes to make a big profit (to themselves by the way) then selling them again at another huge mark up because they are now a huge rental generator (to themselves again) the country is trillions of pounds in personal debt which shows the vast majority of people are living a lifestyle they could not afford without borrowing vast sums of money. It may seem better now but I would rather live in a time when I had 20 real flesh and blood friends than hundreds of electronic ones I've never even seen and the things I own have been saved for rather than bought on a whim because of a glossy advert.Times may have changed but that does not mean they are better.
