What's your experience going on road trips with a passenger on a bike that's not ideal for 2-up riding?

I love my Hayabusa for solo trips, I travel comfortably 800 to 1000 miles a day. But with my wife along changes everything, 200 miles is far 2 up. I am getting a Gold wing for our longer trips.
